Safety is a core value at Idaho Power, and a recent donation will give seniors in a rural community direct access to a potentially life-saving medical tool. Idaho Power gave an automated external defibrillator (AED) to the Cambridge Senior Center — one of several AEDs the company has donated to small towns where emergency response times can be longer and hospitals aren’t always nearby.
An AED is used to help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. It’s the only way to restore a regular heart rhythm during cardiac arrest, according to the American Red Cross.
“Safety is so important at Idaho Power, not only for our employees, but also for our customers and the communities where we live and work,” said Residential and Commercial Energy Advisor Dani Rollins. “We’re happy this donation will help keep seniors in the Cambridge and Midvale communities a little safer.”
Dani joined fellow Energy Advisor Brian Fletcher and Power Plant Regional Operations Manager Itsy Tanaka in delivering the AED during the senior center’s weekly Wednesday luncheon. Idaho Power retiree Kevin Papineau plans to hang the AED on the dining room wall, where it will be easily accessible if it’s ever needed.
