Weiser, ID (May 17, 2022) – Weiser Memorial Hospital is proud to announce Andrea Wheeler, NP as our 2022 DAISY Award recipient! Andrea was selected for the award based on her extraordinarily skillful and compassionate care.
The patient who nominated Andrea described her as “a shining light in one of the darkest times in my life.” She went on to say, “she was so much more than just a nurse to me… she was my strength.”
Andrea has been a nurse with Weiser Memorial Hospital for several years, first in our Emergency Department and now as a Nurse Practitioner at Family Medical Center. She exhibits exceptional knowledge and clinical skill and really shines in the way she relates to patients, their families, and our staff.
Each year Weiser Memorial Hospital encourages patients and the families of patients to nominate nurses who not only exhibit great clinical skills, but who go above and beyond. To qualify, a nurse: always provides excellent care, recognizes the “little things”, listens with their heart, communicates well, shows compassion, and gives extraordinary kindness.
The DAISY Award Recognition Program honors and celebrates the skillful and compassionate care that nurses provide to their patients every day. At Weiser Memorial Hospital extraordinary care, of each and every patient, is a job that our nurses are passionate about.
The DAISY Award began in memory of J. Patrick Barnes. Pat’s family experienced first-hand the difference his nurses made in his care through clinical excellence and outstanding compassionate care. The family created the DAISY Award to express gratitude to nurses and to enable other patients, families, and staff to thank and honor their special nurses.
