Happy July Everyone!  Right on time, the weather has changed to unbearably hot and I’m wilting.  According to my weather channel app, it’s going to be brutal for the next week or so.  We changed the time of our walking group to 8 AM, but it still felt hot to me once we got moving.  I’m not a morning person, so any earlier would be a stretch for me. The good news is that these heat spells don’t last forever, just as the really cold temps don’t either.  We just have to endure until things change.

I bought a new desktop publisher for the center and I really hated it, so I bought another one that I liked and I had used before, and they changed their format too, so it’s just like the other one I purchased.  I guess I’m just going to have to spend the time and learn how the darn things work. My learning curve isn’t as fast as it used to be, so It will take me a little longer to make programs workable for me. I’m sure I will come to love both programs, given enough time.

July is going to be pretty relaxed around here.  We have to give our volunteers a break before our next fund raisers in August.  The plans are to have our regular Fair Time Taco Feed on Friday, August 4th.  Then looking forward to the eclipse we are considering doing a Baked Potato Bar on Friday August 18 followed by a breakfast the morning of the eclipse, Monday, August 21st.  The only two that are for sure are the Taco Feed and the Eclipse Breakfast.  So August will be a little crazy around here and tiring for the senior volunteers.  I don’t know why, but in every organization, it’s the same few people who do all the work on any project.  I wish it weren’t so, but that is the way it is.  If you have never volunteered to work on a fund raiser, I would encourage you to sign up when asked.  It’s a great feeling to have extended your efforts to benefit others in your group.  Just my two cents.

I guess I had better give you a few dates to remember for July.  On Tuesday, July 11th we will be heading to Ontario for our regular monthly shopping trip.  The following morning on Wednesday, July 12 at 10:30 AM, we will hold our monthly board meeting in the back room of the US Bank.  The Food Pantry will be on Wednesday, July 19th and our foot clinic is on Monday, July 24th and appointments are needed.  I will do my best to remember to remind you again before each event.

Right now, It’s about what’s for dinner:

Friday, July 7th @5:30 PM: Spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, Salad, pears and dessert.

Wednesday, July 12th @Noon:  Meatloaf, baked potatoes with sour cream and butter, whole wheat rolls, peas, salad and coconut cream pie.

Friday, July 14th @5:30:  Chili con carne, corn bread, salad, peaches and dessert.

Have a great week everyone, remember to stay indoors and cool during the hottest part of the day and drink lots of water.  Happy Independence Day tomorrow!
