Guess who turns 150 years old on February 16th 2018? The answer;
The Elks. We will be having a celebration party in February to honor the Elks. Since 1868 the Elks have provided in excess of $6 Billion to local communities for programs and aide. Last year the Elks contributed in excess of $334.3 Million to local communities. The Weiser lodge #1683 was started in 1946 and to the Weiser community we have provided in excess of $1.6 Million in support of Weiser. This is something we can all be proud of. We have supported many youth programs. To name a few, Hoop Shoot, soccer, robotics team, Baseball Teams, musical instruments for the local school. We were the first lodge in Idaho to obtain a Community Impact Grant that was used to build the fishing dock and ramp steps at the Weiser Community Pond. No one does more scholarships then the Elks except for the federal government. Recently two Elks member took dictionaries, drug literature, scholarship information and essay information to schools in McCall, Donley, New Meadows, Council, Cambridge, Midvale, Weiser, Annex and Huntington, miles driven was 235. There were 165 dictionaries passed out to third grade students. We have programs to support Veterans, the Lodge just had our Veterans lunch to honor our Veterans we had 86 veterans and spouses attend for a free meal. We support those in need in the community, our Christmas food basket program provides food to more than 60 families in Weiser.
