Saturday, February 3rd, the Weiser Cheer Squad competed for the first time this year at the Treasure Valley Cheer Invitational. TVCI was held in Meridian, Idaho and had competitors in 1A-2A through 5A districts in attendance. Squads were able to sign up to compete in up to four different categories. The categories being; Show Cheer, Sideline, Pom, and Stunt. Awards were handed out by district level.

Weiser Cheer Squad competed in three of the areas, Show, Sideline, and Pom. Freshman cheerleader Gabrielle Palmer shared how she felt about her first time at TVCI, “I thought it was really amazing and super fun! It was really cool to meet all the other cheerleaders from the area and just to share encouragement with each other.”  As always our Lady Wolverines put there all into their routines and showed the crowd that Wolverine spirit and pride we all know. Weiser Cheer walked away from TVCI in first place in all three of their categories for the 3A division.

Coach Jennifer Weldon shared her thoughts on their first competition stating, “TVCI went amazing, I am thrilled! No technical points, that's what I look for at TVCI. It’s an invitational and so it’s my chance to come and make sure that I am technically correct. We had no tech deductions. They loved our routines, I’m changing no routines. Which this is one of the first years I haven’t had to change a routine. It’s spot on. We want to fix things, make them sharper, add a little more energy, but these girls are ridiculously talented.”

For some of the squad this was their first time performing a routine in front of a large crowd and judges. Senior cheerleader Grace Mckie gave her thoughts on how TVCI went, “I think it was a very important learning experience. We have a young team and they did great for their first time performing in front of a crowd. We had some new girls come in this year and they pulled it off, they did a great job!.”

Congratulations to the Weiser Cheer Squad on their win at TVCI. Coach Weldon shared that she hopes the squad does this well at districts coming up on February 24th, again being held at Meridian High School. So come out and cheer on the ladies who cheer our teams on all year long.
