On Friday, February 2nd the Weiser Chamber of Commerce held their very first  Annual Winter Carnival Benefit. Participants were entertained by seventy performers and could purchase tickets to play old fashioned carnival game like bean bag toss and plinko. Tickets could buy not only games, but dinner, face painting or your picture taken with photo booth fun props. Chamber Director, Jennifer Huff,  shared that, “Tickets for the carnival games went like crazy! We had tons of people come through.”

The Chamber wanted to fill the space left open by Cabin Fever Night, but wanted their Carnival to be a benefit that would help out community members. This year the Chamber chose Ethan Hoskins, a young boy who has Spina Bifida. His mother, Casey Hoskins, is local shop owner of Casey Girl Designs. This year's Winter Carnival Benefit raised over $2,100 to help out the Hoskins family. In response to the Benefit Casey stated, “I am humbled by how many took the time to show up and contribute their time and funds. It was an amazing gift to our family, we are so grateful.”

Chamber President, Patty Matthews, shared how happy the chamber is with the turnout, “We were overwhelmed by the number of kids that were there, by how everything was received, and how excited the organizations were to man booths and run games. Everyone just jumped in with both feet and it was outstanding. A total community effort.” The Chamber is looking to meet and discuss future plans for the Benefit, their primary goal was to get through the first one and then assess. Matthews said that they already have the date of the first Friday in February next year for the Benefit set aside, but no other plans have been made at this time.
