Saturday, February 24th Weiser Cheer attended the District III Cheer competition in Meridian, Idaho. The squad competed against two other 3A teams; Fruitland and Homedale. Weiser competed in three categories; Pom, Show, and Sideline. The squad had just three weeks before nailed their routines for TVCI, walking away with first place in all three of their categories. They were preparing for Districts when freshman Tyra Ramirez was injured and unable to perform. Coach Jennifer Weldon commented on how well the girls pulled together and help make District successful, “I am so excited! In particular because we have had a really tough season. We had Tyra Ramirez, who is an amazing flyer, go down with a broken arm. So in one week this squad came back together and reworked it. They are amazing young women.”
Weiser Cheer placed first in all three categories at District, qualifying them to compete in these events at State. Sophomore cheerleader Kaiya Sanchez stated, “It really feels good to know even with everything that has happened this year that we can all still pull together and push through. I am just really proud of everyone. They have worked really hard to either learn new parts or work on parts they were struggling with.” Not only did the squad earn first place for their performances they also were 3A District Champions. Freshman cheerleader Regan Doty shared how she felt about her first District experience, “I think it was a really cool experience. I liked spending this time with the team and really progressing.” Weiser Cheer will attend State March 16th at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa, Idaho. Congratulations ladies and good luck at State!
