The formal resignation of Superintendent Robin R. Gilbert, Payette School District, has been served to Chairman Kirkendall and the Board of Trustees. In a letter to the board, Gilbert stated that at the end of her current contract, which expires on June 30th, 2022, she will no longer serve as Superintendent.
“This was a difficult and a heavy heart decision for me. This message to you (staff) is difficult to write and find the appropriate words. I love Payette, the great people I work with and the things we are accomplishing for our students and staff. I love my home here in Payette and plan to keep it. It has been such a pleasure to serve here these past five years,” Gilbert shared in a letter to the staff.
Gilbert also stated that back in November of 2021, it became apparent that the new Board of Trustees were developing a different vision for the district with a new agenda. “They were ready to look elsewhere. For me, there are several wonderful new opportunities currently available. It is a matter of integrity to resign before I pursue or interview for any of these prospects.” Gilbert stated that recent board decisions made it clear that they are wanting to move in a different direction which did not align with what she was hired for.
Gilbert shared that she is appreciative of the opportunity to serve the Payette School District and is very proud of the growth and success she has seen throughout the years. “May Payette continue to charge ahead in positive ways,” she said in closing. As the contract ends at the end of June, Gilbert made herself available to help with the change for a smooth transition.
