Letter To The Editor – Tad Mundell

Washington County Commissioners are attempting to infringe on our Constitutional Rights.

The information below is intended to inform you on Washington County commissioners and planning and zoning’s recent plans against our agricultural community.

Commissioners Nate Marvin, Lyndon Haines and Bonnie Brent from planning and zoning are the authors of the proposed changes to our agricultural building permits.

A.  In their 1st draft changes will include.

• They want to start inspecting Ag buildings for Compliance.

• Any building containing a bathroom, kitchen area or a break room will not qualify as Ag.

• A building that houses recreational equipment or any type of shop will not be considered Ag.

• Any building used to maintain or repair equipment will no longer qualify as an Ag building.

B.  In their 2nd draft changes will include.

• They want your principal income and livelihood to originate from your property in order to qualify for Ag exemptions.

• 2 sets of building plans will now be required for Ag buildings.

• Failure to comply with their new AG definitions could result in fines and jail time as stated in the 1st and 2nd drafts $300 fine and or 90 days in jail resulting in a misdemeanor.

 Food for thought.

~While these changes have not yet been added as code. It’s concerning that these ideas would even be considered in this great county.

~ Do we need people not involved in agriculture defining how we use our agricultural properties and buildings?

~ Should we be criminalizing law abiding citizens for a way of life protected by the Constitution?

~ Do we really want our paid representatives stripping our freedoms like what is happening in California?

~After the hearing they will be working on a 3rd draft.  It’s time to get involved.

The board of commissioners meets every. monday at the courthouse.

Commissioner Gordon Wilkerson has been putting up a good fight defending our rights.

  He needs our support!

Let’s make a stand! This Monday March 6th at 3 PM at the Vendome 309 state St Weiser

 Bring your questions!

You will be allowed 3 minutes for questions and comments at the public meeting.
