Rickie Dean Field

January 26th, 1957 - October 18th, 2017


Rickie Dean Field – Age 60 from Weiser, Idaho, Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Papa, and friend to many, prankster and fun-loving soul – passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, being released from the clutches of ALS – “Lou Gehrig’s Disease.”

Rick was born on January 26, 1957 in Ontario, Oregon.  The son of Wallace Dean Field and Doris Jean Field.  The second child of four.

Rick enjoyed playing football and basketball while in school and lived in Weiser his entire life.  He spent his weekends helping his Grandparents on their farm in Nu Acres and Fruitland.  He began working in the orchards with his Grandpa Carpenter when he was a very young boy.

While attending Weiser High School, his sister Leah encouraged her friend Naomi to ask Rick to the Freshman Girls League Formal.  They became high school Sweethearts, graduating in 1977.  Rick and Naomi were married in 1978.  They had two children Catherine and Jeffery Field.

Rick worked numerous jobs through the years, starting with moving sprinkler pipes during the summer through high school, Weiser Plumbing Service, Idaho Timber, Champion Home Builders, and the City of Weiser, where he met many lifelong friends.  Finally finding his passion of  being caretaker of the City parks.  He also volunteered many hours preparing the football field for home games.  His other great passion was being a fireman with the Weiser Rural Fire District for 20 years.  He was a mentor to many young firemen, taking the time to share his knowledge and experience with them.

Rick was known for his teasing, not many could escape his wet willy’s, a prankster by heart, teaching his young grandchildren and nieces and nephews the art of the “raspberry” – Pssst!

Rick is survived by the love of his life Naomi, Daughter – Catherine (Anthony), Son – Jeffery (Kendra), Grandchildren – Adrianna, Sheila, and Joseph Field, Sister – Deb (Leonard) Porter, Sister – Leah (Nate) Marvin, Brother – Don Field, Numerous Nieces and Nephews and friends he considered family.  Including the 76’ers and friends and the Weiser Rural fire brotherhood.

He was preceded in death by his father – Wallace Field, Mother – Doris Field York, Father in law  -  Harold Young, Mother in law – Norma Young and Sister in law – Ramona Young Slemp.

A visitation will be held Friday, October 27, 2017 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at the Weiser Christian Church.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Weiser Christian Church with burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.

We would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Weiser Memorial Hospital, Washington County ambulance and the Meridian St. Luke’s Hospital for the loving care we received during Rick’s final days.

Memorials may be made to the Weiser Rural Fire District burn out fund, the Shriners Hospital, The Weiser Christian Church or the Weiser Recreation Dept. Youth scholarship fund.
