Adela Brechbiel

May 13th, 1939 - November 6th, 2017

Adela Brechbiel, 78, Loving mother, grandmother and wife gained her heavenly wings in the early morning of Monday November 6, 2017.  Adela was born May 13, 1939 to Julian and Ramona Leija in Weslaco, TX.   Adela was the third of thirteen children.  The family moved from Texas to Weiser, ID in 1951.
Adela attended school for a short period in Weiser before having to leave school to help her mother raise the younger siblings.  By age 12 she was cooking, cleaning and caring for the younger children as her parents worked.  She learned at a very young age the meaning of hard work, and never forgot how.
Adela married Lloyd Brechbiel on October 16, 1964.  Together they raised 4 children on the family farm on the Weiser flats.  The family home was always remembered lovingly, by the warm aroma of baked goods.  Cooking and baking for her family were just a few of her passions.  Her love and passion for gardening and love for colors filled many pots and baskets of assorted flowers.  She loved and enjoyed spending hours out in her yard, making sure all her plants were just perfect.  Her favorites were always her Dahlia’s and Gladiolas, but then, she always made room for her bright colored Martha Washington Geraniums, trimmed with Ivy Potato Vine and Million Bells.  She always said this was “the perfect combination for a hanging basket.”
Adela was a happy spirit who loved to tease, joke and laugh with her family and friends.  Her laugh was one that was never forgotten, when it was once heard.  As Adela aged she decided to stay home and help raise her first grandchild ReAnna.  As the years passed so did the many children that passed through her home and called her “Grandma Della”.  She was more than just a babysitter to the children of the community that passed through her door.  She loved each and every one of them as if they were her very own.
She was a staple to many, as a living angel in all our lives.  She taught us about true selflessness and what it meant to be a servant of God.  Her voice was the sound of an angel as she sang hymns in the kitchen.  If she wasn’t singing, she would always have a record playing in the background.  She was an icon, who was loved by so many and will truly be missed by her family and friends.
Survived by her daughter, Kathy (Steven) Harris and their son Shawn, sons, Kelly Brechbiel children Travis, Tyler, and Olivia, Randy (Kim)  Brechbiel, children ReAnna and Tanner, David Brechbiel, children Levi and Cory, daughter-in-law Pamela and her boys Mathew and Steven, Brother in Law Glen and June Brechbiel, Sister in Laws Roberta, Alana and Bobbe.  Brothers Elias (Patty) Leija, Eli (Myrna) Leija, Danny (MaryAnn) Leija.  Sisters Angie (Allen) Eldredge,  Elva (Alex) Lopez, Elizabeth (Gary) Williamson, Ester (Mike) De Weese, Hilda (Andrew) Camacho, several cousins, and many nieces and nephews.
