Alberta Jean -Jeannie- Bates

July 20th, 1963 - November 11th, 2017

Alberta Jean “Jeannie” Bates, 54, died peacefully on November 11, 2017 at her home in Weiser, Idaho surrounded by family and loved ones.

On July 20, 1963 in Ontario, Oregon, Jeannie was born and adopted to her parents Albert and Alda Jacoby.  It was in her early 20’s when Jeannie was reunited with her biological mother, Karen Paulovcin, who she has kept in contact with since.

In 1989, Jeannie married her loving husband Tim Bates. They began their life in Payette, Idaho, and later moved to Weiser, Idaho where they raised their three children, Jacob (35), Sara (29), and Kolcie (22). Through the years they all loved to be together as a family, laughing and playing games, as well as enjoying sporting events and the outdoors.

For the past 16 years, Jeannie has been the face of the Weiser Recreation Department, playing an incredibly instrumental role in their many programs and activities. The City of Weiser and their recreation programs were her pride and joy, and she loved developing relationships with the children and their families as they participated in the many sports and events that the Weiser Recreation Department had to offer. In her spare time, Jeannie excelled in crafts including woodwork, decorating cakes, and sewing, just to name a few.

In 2013, Jeannie’s ultimate wish came true – she became a Grandma. Jett (4) and little sister Blakely (2) were Jeannie’s “little sunshines” and were among her most favorite topics of conversation. Jeannie thoroughly enjoyed spoiling her grandkids and soaking up every minute of time spent with them from the moment they were born, right up until her passing.

Jeannie is survived by her husband, Tim Bates of Weiser; children, Jacob (and Jolene) Jacoby of Fruitland, Sara (and Dj) Lords and their two children, Jett and Blakely of Boise, and Kolcie Bates of Moscow; brother, Lester Jacoby; biological mother, Karen (and Art) Paulovcin; two biological sisters; one biological brother; father-in-law, Sonny Bates; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jeannie is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Alda Jacoby, and her brother David Jacoby.

Services for Jeannie will be held at the Vendome Event Center in Weiser on Tuesday, November 21 at 2:00pm. A private family burial at Rosedale Memorial Gardens will take place at a later date.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to everyone who reached out and supported Tim and Jeannie during the time of her illness, and especially during these last few weeks
