Donald Dee Mang

October 20th, 1954 - December 17th, 2017

Donald “Don” Dee Mang passed away while surrounded by family on Saturday, December 17, 2017 after a 2-month battle with brain cancer.

Don was born in Wichita, KS on October 20, 1954 to Calvin T Mang and Joan Dee (Pedrick) Mang.  Don spent the majority of his life in Everett, WA. He graduated from Mariner High School in 1972 and married the love of his life, Clara Ann (Jenkins) of Snohomish, WA, on May 9, 1975. Don retired from Boeing in 2014, where he worked as a tool grinder and machinist for over 25 years; however, during a long layoff from Boeing, he went back to school and graduated with his Associates degree as a Radiologic Technologist in September 2004. Although he grew up in the city, he was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting (rifle and archery), fishing, hiking and being surrounded by nature. His dream was to buy property near the mountains, but it had to have sage brush. He bought his dream property in Weiser, ID in 2011, enjoying it as often as possible until he was able to retire; he finally moved to Weiser officially last year.

Aside from living his life outdoors, he also loved sports. Don played slow-pitch softball for many years and was on a Wednesday night Fraternal bowling league at Evergreen Lanes (Everett) for over 25 years. He also coached senior little league baseball for South Everett Little League for about 20 years; one season, his team even went undefeated! Don made lifelong friends wherever he went.

Family has always been the most important thing to Don. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandsons and was looking forward to showing them the outdoorsman lifestyle he grew up with. His dog Jasper was attached to his hip and went everywhere he did. Since purchasing his home in Weiser, he bought two horses, Laney and Hopper, and a mule named Aspen, his land became sanctuary for many wild birds (except for magpies!) and he always ensured they had food, water and safe place to nest.

Don is survived by his wife Clara, son Jason (Patty) Mang of Weiser, daughters Lacee (Hugo) Salinas of Fruitland and Ashlee (Miguel) Mang of Everett, his grandsons Wyatt & Tanner, Eziel & Isahi, and Mizael & Felix, his mother Joan Mang, his siblings Calvin “Eddie” (Shelly) Mang, Larry (Glennda) Mang, Mary (Doug) Simmons, Darin Mang, as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. Don is preceded in death by his father Calvin T Mang, mother-in-law Patsy Hutchcraft, and brothers-in-law David and Jim Jenkins.

A celebration of life will be held for Don Mang at his Weiser home on Saturday, December 30th at 2:00 PM. The address is: 1510 Monroe Creek Rd, Weiser, ID  83672. A memorial service will also be held in Everett, WA in February; due to weather, the date, time, and location will be determined at a later date.
