Round Em Up and Head for the 12th Annual Biker Rodeo

By Marsha Woods
Polish up those Harleys, get your motors running and head out on the highway to Ole’s Tavern for the 12th Annual Biker Rodeo!  Slated for Saturday, June 25th, it promised to be the most fun you will ever saddle up for!
Mike and Malissa Campbell, who just celebrated their 5th year as owners of Ole’s are gearing up for the event, which hosts approximately 40 riders, some coming from as far away as Washington.
Not to be confused with a stereotypical rodeo, the horsepower comes from an engine; the events do not include bulls and the grounds are much easier to clean up in the aftermath!
Registration for this amusingly enjoyable day begins at 2:00 P.M., with the first of the 6 events starting at 3:00.  There is no entry fee but the contestants pay $7 for each event or $40 for all seven events, with monetary prizes coming from generous sponsorships.  All participants receive a plaque and or monetary awards!
Riders, who according to Ole’s staff, have to “play by the rules” while competing in the events, they are encouraged to “whoop it up!”  The 6 events have a witty array of titles and rules!  Some, such as “Riding the Plank,” “Keg Push,” ,” Slow Race,” “Balloon Toss, “ and the “Ring Toss, “ need no further explanation.  The “Weenie Bite, however, has to be seen to be believed! It’s all in fun and laughingly entertaining!
In addition to the activities, the Ole’s Men’s Club will be cooking up an all day Pig Roast, complete with the fixings.  Pulled pork, roasted pork, coleslaw, baked beans and rolls are the menu for the day; proceeds go to the OMSC to aid in the various charitable contributions in which these guys partake throughout the year.  There will also be a 50/50 Raffle, with 50% of the pot going to the winner! Ole’s also provides free camping sites for everyone for participants and spectators as well.
Mike, Malissa and the whole “pit crew” encourage everyone to “Come for the Rodeo and stay for the party!” It is a certified promise that you will not be disappointed!
