TVCC To Require Face Coverings Indoors

Following Oregon Governor Kate Brown’s order on Wednesday requiring masks in all public buildings, Treasure Valley Community College announced its compliance with this directive.

Effective Friday, Aug. 13, all TVCC employees, students and guests, regardless of vaccination status, will be required to wear face coverings in all indoor locations, at all College locations.

Summer classes end on Thursday, Aug. 12, but many students are currently living in the Residence Hall and athletes are on campus for summer practices. Everyone will be required to comply with the new face covering requirements indoors beginning Friday.

Employees do not need to wear a face covering if they work in a closed office. An office is defined as a single-person room with a closable door. Employees must also wear a face covering whenever they are visible to the public. If a person’s work area is always visible to the public, the person shall wear a face covering even if a physical barrier separates the employee from others.

“We are committed to following state guidance to ensure we can remain open for in-person classes this fall,” said TVCC President Dr. Dana M. Young. “Getting vaccinated, wearing a facial covering, washing your hands frequently, and staying home if you are sick will help keep you and our community healthy; we all need to do our part.”

As with everything COVID-related, should conditions change or improve significantly, these requirements will be revisited. TVCC’s fall term begins on September 27. The College regularly reviews its Covid response plans and presents updates monthly to the TVCC Board of Education.

All Idaho four-year universities also  announced today they would also require face coverings beginning this week.
