Weiser High’s Dylan Turrentine Signs Letter of Intent to Play Baseball for Big Bend Community College

Monday, February 6th Weiser High senior Dylan Turrentine signed his letter of intent to play baseball for Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Washington.Turrentine feels like Big Bend has a really good baseball program and when he visited last fall he felt a good connection. “I went and worked out with them and had a blast. It is a smaller school and I really like what they have to offer.” Turrentine plays both a pitcher and an outfield position for the Weiser Wolverines and plans to pitch for Big Bend.Turrentine shared that he has played baseball since he was a young kid and is excited to move up to the next level of playing, “I love it. I love what it gives back. I want to see how far I can go with it.”

One of the goals of the coaching staff at Weiser HIgh is to try and get some of their players to go on to that next level. Couch Bo Von Brethorst  shared a little about Turrentine, “He’s bought in since we offered middle school baseball. This is exciting for him. He’s the youngest of three brothers so it’s been nice that he’s been watching and he’s coming in knowing what to expect in his senior year. He’s going to be on the mound for us, will probably hit somewhere in the middle for us and play the outfield. The expectation is high, but I dont think it’s so high that I think he will crack under that pressure. I think he is going to do great.”

While playing for Big Bend, Turrintine plans to work on getting a degree in business, “I think it would be great to own my own business. I don’t mind working for other people, but I would rather work for myself.” Turrintine shared his appreciation for the community, coaches and his team stating, “Thanks for the support and helping me get to this point in my career.” Overall, moving away from home, beginning his education in business and playing ball for Big Bend, Turrintine says, “I’m excited for the challenge and to see what it brings.”
