Weiser Memorial Hospital (WMH) is partnering with Intermountain Health’s Behavioral Tele-Crisis Program to help meet the needs of patients who come to the Emergency Department (ED). This service provides rapid evaluations to patients in crisis including those with suicidal thoughts.
Using TeleHealth technology, including high-definition cameras and audio equipment, providers in the WMH Emergency Department can quickly connect with behavioral health specialists at Intermountain Health anytime of the day or night. This will greatly improve access to these services in our area.
“This new partnership with Intermountain Telehealth services will allow us to better serve our community, meet their needs, and bring a needed expertise into the ED,” Scott Conklin, RN Nurse Manager for the ED commented. “Using telehealth medicine our patients have access here, that traditionally has required they be transferred. Having real time access when a person is in crisis allows us to provide better care,” he added.
This partnership with Intermountain Health will not only utilize innovative technology to assist WMH in providing superior patient care but will also address existing challenges such as access to behavioral health specialists, timely access to this type of care, and support for Emergency Department staff 24/7.
