WMH Foundation Awarded Two Local Students with Scholarships

The Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation has awarded two local students with a $1,000 Healthcare Scholarship.  These two qualified and brilliant students are seeking an education in the healthcare industry.

The Healthcare Scholarship Fund provides local students a bit of financial help as they attend college.  There is a growing need for healthcare workers in rural areas, which is the focus of this scholarship.  Weiser Memorial Healthcare Scholarship program gives back to the next generation of students of healthcare professionals while helping fill the financial gap in funding.

The foundation recently posted to social media:

“We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021 WMH Foundation Healthcare Scholarship.  Congratulations Caden Cramer and Connor Lee, both of Weiser.  It is the Foundation’s privilege to honor these worthy scholars, who are pursuing careers in the field of Medical Science.  Each student will receive $1,000 to assist in their educational journey.”

Connor Lee shared that he is full of gratitude to have received this scholarship.  “I am extremely honored and indebted to the Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation for selecting me for this award, particularly with how tough it may have been for them to choose between all of the strong and dedicated candidates that applied this year.  This is a very thoughtful and generous opportunity that the Foundation has pushed out to those who seek to pursue a medical career, and I am lost for words to have been chosen, especially with representing my amazing hometown of Weiser!”

When asked what he plans to do with his scholarship, Connor replied, “I plan to use this award to further fund the education of my undergrad, where I am currently obtaining a double major in Biomedical Science and Business Administration (with a minor in Religious Studies).  From here, I seek to prepare myself along the pre-physician assistant route where I can later attend the College of Idaho State University as I make a push for my Master’s in Physician Assistant studies.  I strive to use this knowledge more specifically in regards to dermatology, endocrinology, or cardiology, all three areas of extreme interest and importance to me.  It would be a dream to take these experiences and plant them back into the heart of Weiser, where I can begin a practice and get back to the loving community the same way they have loved me, just like this scholarship award.”

Caden Cramer shared, “I am extremely grateful to receive the Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation Scholarship along with the support that comes with it.  I feel honored to represent the Weiser Memorial Hospital in my advancement in medicine.  With this scholarship, I plan to use the funds towards my tuition and housing at the University of Idaho.  This is a huge relief financially towards the tuition and housing cost for the year.  At the University of Idaho, I plan to get a bachelor’s degree in medical science with a minor in pre-health profession (already obtained).  After obtaining a Medical Science degree, I plan to continue my education and get a doctorate degree to become an anesthesiologist.  Along my journey and when I become an anesthesiologist, I plan to not only help others medically, but also in any other ways I can.  I am extremely grateful to the Weiser Memorial Hospital Foundation Scholarship.  Thank you!”

Congratulations, Caden and Connor!
