Free Books For Children From 0-5 in Washington, Payette & Malheur Counties

By Rachal Messersmith

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book gifting program that aims to improve childhood literacy rates by providing free books to children from birth to age five. The American singer-songwriter and philanthropist Dolly Parton founded the program in 1995 in her home state of Tennessee.

The program partners with local organizations, like Four Rivers Healthy Community. Once a child is enrolled, they will receive a new age-appropriate book in the mail every month until they turn five years old. The books are carefully selected by a team of early childhood education experts and are designed to help children develop a love of reading and improve their literacy skills.

While our children receive these books for free, it costs $2.10 per child per month. The local non-profit is responsible for covering these costs and would welcome any donations to provide our children with the tools they need to improve their skills.

It costs around $25/year for our children to receive 12 books yearly.

You can donate here if you would like to help provide a local child with their annual books. (Please ensure the affiliate code is Washington County or the county you wish to support.)
