Idaho DECA held their State Career Development Conference (SCDC) starting Monday, February 26th and ending this morning with the Closing Ceremony.
Both Payette and Weiser’s DECA Clubs competed hard yesterday in various events from Finance to Business Plan to even Sports Marketing.
What is DECA you might ask? DECA is a globally recognized organization that fosters leadership and entrepreneurship skills among high school and college students. Through competitive events, community service, and professional development programs, DECA empowers members to excel in various fields such as marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. With a network spanning across thousands of chapters in over twenty countries, DECA provides invaluable opportunities for personal growth and career readiness.
DECA Internationals will be held in Anaheim, California April 27-30 this year. These qualifiers will have a chance to perform internationally. This years expected numbers are 25,000-30,000 students.
Those who qualified for Internationals this April are as followed:
– Human Resources Management
3rd Place: Josh Negrete (Weiser), making this his Back-2-Back Internationals Appearance.
– Principles of Finance
3rd Place: Maddilyn Switzers (Payette), qualifying her for Internationals.
– Sports and Entertainment Marketing Series
1st Place: Cody Smithies (Payette), making him a Back-2-Back State Champion, with winning 1st at Southern Region Districts held at Twin Falls, and last year winning 1st in Professional Selling at SCDC.
At every Closing Ceremony, the current State Officer Team also hand the torch to the next slate of officers who are voted for by each chapters Voting Delegates.
Josh Bommersbach from Payette was voted in as Idaho DECA Vice President of Hospitality! He was voted into Team 67, who will be apart of the incredible Idaho Division of Career Technical Education’s program!
