In March, the Fruitland School District Board of Trustees selected Stoney Winston as the next Superintendent at its Regular School Board Meeting. Stoney Winston will replace Superintendent Lyle Bayley, who retires at the end of June.
This decision came after a lengthy process facilitated by the Idaho School Boards Association, which included ten applicants from nationwide and in-state.
Winston has been the Superintendent of the Parma School District in Parma, Idaho, since 2020. He began his career as a teacher at the Cambridge School District and then moved on to the Middleton School District, where he served as a principal, 21st CCLC Director, and Athletic Director. Before becoming the Parma School District Superintendent, he was a Principal and Athletic Director.
Winston has a Bachelor’s degree in Education, a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership.
“After an extensive search, the Board of Trustees and the hiring committee, which included an array of stakeholders, have selected Stoney Winston as the next Superintendent to lead the District. Stoney will step into the role as we see Mr. Lyle Bayley retire at the end of this school year. The Board greatly appreciates Mr. Bayley and his service to Fruitland School District and looks forward to a seamless transition to Mr. Winston,” said Board Chair Matt Frye.
