Zelda Ruth Chandler, lovingly know as Nanny by her grandchildren, a long-time resident of Weiser, passed away in her home July 19, 2024. She was born in Ogden, Utah, October 2, 1934 to Owen and Bernice Froerer. She was raised in Eden, Utah until her family packed up their farm and moved to Vale, Oregon in 1945. She graduated from Vale High School. She was set up on a blind date where she met her future husband, Laurie Chandler. They were married in the Idaho Falls Temple on March 11, 1959. They were the parents of five children, Cary Jill, Kimberly, Casey, Sue and Jennifer. Laurie and Ruth raised their family on their Holstein dairy farm on Monroe Creek. Her family, was her most special achievement. Ruth taught many of her children and grandchildren to cook, bake and sew. Ruth was the best wife, mother, Nanny and friend to everyone. She always remembered special details about everyone’s life.
Ruth was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings in her church. She also served the community as a 4-H leader in the Happy Homemakers 4-H club. She taught many kids new skills and always made her meetings fun.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Bernice Froerer, her husband, Laurie Chandler, her brother, Owen Froerer and her son-in-law, Robert Clark.
She is survived by her five children, seventeen grandchildren and forty great grandchildren.
She was loved by so many and will be missed by all. Services will be held Saturday, July 27th at 11:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Weiser, ID.
