Cambridge Senior Chatter

I hope your Thanksgiving was all that you had hoped it would be.  Mine was simple but good—a compromise with my sister.  My sister likes having fancy diners with many side dishes like our mother used to make.   I like turkey, my mom’s recipe for candied sweet potatoes, and stuffing.  We had the turkey, Candied Sweet Potatoes, Stuffing, and a green bean casserole and pecan pie for dessert.  It was more than enough.  We watched a science fiction show on Netflix all afternoon.  It was relaxing, and that’s just what the Doctor ordered.

Now, I’m looking forward to the Cookie and Candy Extravaganza, which will be held on December 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. There should be lots of wonderful baked goods and candy for you to choose from. To get the best selection, it’s probably better to get here sooner rather than later that day. This will be our last fundraiser for this year, so put it on your bucket list of things to do before Christmas. I hope to see you at the senior center on Saturday, December 7th!

If you plan on donating something for the sale, please have your items here by 11 a.m. that morning. Please put a piece of masking tape on the bottom of the dish you bring with your name and phone number so we can make sure you get your pan or dish back.  “Thank you” in advance for your generous contribution to our fundraiser

I reviewed my notes from our last board meeting and noted that on Wednesday, December 4th, we are having a “game day” after lunch.  We will probably start about 1:30 and be over by 3:30 p.m.  Are there any Rummikub players around?  I would like to get a regular group started; It’ll be fun!

 Menu:

Friday, December 6:  Sloppy Joe’s, French fried Potatoes, Mixed Fruit, Salad, and Dessert.

Wednesday, December 11:  Chicken Fried Steak, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Peas, Wheat Rolls, Pears, Salad, and No Bake Cookies.

Friday, December 13:  Macaroni and Cheese, Stewed Tomatoes, Salad, Bran Muffins, Pears and Dessert.

I know this is a busy time of year for most folks, but be sure to take the time to relax and refresh yourself.  You are going to need it for those after-Christmas Sales!

Until the next time, stay happy and healthy and dream of good things to come.  Peace be with you, always.
