Cambridge Senior Chatter

By Nate Estes

It’s Friday, before Labor Day, and I’m sitting at my desk racking my brain trying to come up with something to write about.  It’s either writer’s block or I’ve had too much sugar today—the resulting brain fog could fit either condition.

Today was the last day to purchase tickets for our Split the Pot Fundraiser. The total collected was $402, so the lucky winner will walk away with $201 cash. The drawing will be held on Wednesday, September 3rd, after lunch. If you have bought tickets, why not join us for lunch and see firsthand whose name was drawn? It could be you!

We will play Bingo on Thursday, September 4th, from 6 to 8 p.m. This is a family night out for all ages and is open to everyone in the community. Light refreshments will be provided.

The following week, on Friday, September 12th, we are having a Baked Potato Barfundraiser, from 5 to 7 pm. I hope you will join us. Our fundraisers are how we keep the lights on, the doors open, and the bills paid.  So come hungry and leave happy.  We appreciate your support!

Our BYOP group will meet on Thursday, September 11th, and  Thursday, September 25th, at 2:30 p.m. Chair Yoga will start up again on Tuesday, September 2nd, at 10:30 a.m. and is scheduled for every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter. And our monthly Foot Clinic will be on Monday, September 22nd.

     MENU:

Wednesday, September 3rd:  Beer Battered Fish Fillets, Rice Pilaf, Mixed Vegetables, Coleslaw, Corn Bread, Peaches, and Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Friday, September 5th:  Taco Salad, Corn Tortilla chips, Apricots, Salsa, Guacamole, Sour Cream, Black Olives, Onions, Refried beans, and dessert.

Wednesday, September 10th:  BBQ Pork, Baked Beans, Macaroni Salad, Pears, Corn on the Cob(?), Wheat dinner roll, and Oatmeal cake.

Friday, September 12th:  Baked Potato Bar, fundraiser.  5 to 7 p.m.

$12 for adults, $6 for children 12 and under.  No lunch will be served today.

It’s official, I’ve plum run out of things to tell you about, so I will bid you adieu, and hope for a better column next time.  Have a great week, everyone!
