Riding To Support Veterans And Their Families

Saturday, September 6th, we caught up with the Payette Valley Doughboys (named after the Doughboy statue at the end of North Main Street in Payette, Idaho). Drew “Dooser” Miller, Chapter Commander of CVMA 13-4, explained that the Doughboys host their annual Doughboy Ride to raise funds that directly support veterans and their families here at home. Their efforts include providing gift cards, participating in Wreaths Across America, serving meals to veterans in need, and delivering food to veteran care facilities at the State Veterans Home.

The Payette Valley Doughboys are part of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA), a nonprofit made up of male and female veterans from all branches of the military who share a love of riding. The organization’s motto is “Vets Helping Vets,” and their mission is to support and defend those who have served and to protect our freedoms. Membership includes full members with verifiable combat service, support members with non-combat service, and auxiliary members who are family. With nearly 300 chapters worldwide and many members still serving in combat zones, the CVMA carries out its mission on both local and global levels.
