General Manager of Farmer’s Mutual, Dan Greig, Retires After 44 Years

General manager Dan Greig at Farmer’s Mutual in Fruitland is retiring after 44 years in the communications technology industry.  His official first day of retirement begins August 1st, 2021.  Feeling that the time just felt right, Dan and his wife are looking forward to this new part of their life adventure as retirement draws near.

According to a story posted on their Facebook page, Greig started his career at Farmers Mutual Telephone Company as part of a crew of eight spending time in the office, working cable on telephone poles, and troubleshooting.  You can imagine the changes in technology over the course of 44 years in this field!  Greig is originally from Nyssa where he graduated High School and went on to serve in the Navy.  He started his training in the telco industry with Western Electric.  Fast-forward over 4 decades of experience and expertise, Greig is saying goodbye to a team of 28 co-workers who have become lifelong friends as well as the community he has served.  With retirement comes big changes, and he and his wife are excited to be moving to North Carolina to be closer to his grandchildren.

Since April 1st, the assistant general manager Ron Rembelski has stepped into the general manager role while Dan has been consulting for the company until his last day.  Greig feels that they chose the right person to step into his role because of a competent and secure background working in communications.  The two have known each other for many years and have a great working relationship.  When the time came to find a replacement for Dan, Rob’s name naturally came to the table.  Rembelski has some great ideas on future expansion for the communities they serve.

Greig generously expressed his gratitude to everyone who has supported him over the last 44 years, including the customers he has helped serve.  Please join us in wishing Dan Greig a happy retirement!
