A Look Into Serve Day across the Western Treasure Valley

Every April, more than 100 volunteer projects bring together neighbors, church groups, families, and businesses across the Western Treasure Valley to help their community one person and one project at a time. Community Serve Day is an annual volunteer event that has been connecting people across Payette County and the broader region since 2009, spanning eight different communities including Payette, Fruitland, Weiser, New Plymouth, Ontario, Nyssa, Vale, and Adrian.

The projects tackle real community needs: park cleanups, building wheelchair ramps, painting houses, graffiti removal, and helping people who are financially or physically unable to complete tasks on their own. Community leaders believe there are many people in the community who want to make a positive difference.

What makes this event special is how it connects people across different backgrounds and brings them together across socio-economic and language barriers. The goal is to help people connect with each other through serving their neighbors. Community Serve Day represents the best of what happens when neighbors decide to help neighbors, reminding us that community means actively caring for the places and people around us.
