I finished two of my month-end reports and will send off next week’s column before I leave today. That’s my plan anyway.
When I opened my Newspaper from this week, I found several Inserts advertising the events happening in Council on the 4th of July.
I think I may have to go to the Council Senior Center’s 4th of July fundraiser. They are having BBQ Pork Ribs, Baked Beans, and a Coleslaw. There is nothing better than BBQ on the 4th of July! Not only for the food, but also because supporting other Senior Centers is important.
I know how hard it is to work on fundraisers at our senior center to earn money to keep the doors open and the lights on, and I want to do my part to support other local senior centers in doing the same.
I got a call yesterday from Crystal from the Umpqua Bank in Weiser, which I had been waiting for. She will come to Cambridge to give a presentation on avoiding Fraud and Scams. It is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, July 16th, after lunch. I say tentatively because as soon as I announced it to the group, they reminded me that it was our day for the food pantry, and it might not be the best day to have a speaker. I have a call in to her and hope to reschedule for Wednesday, July 23rd. I’ll keep you posted!
Menu:
Friday, July 4: Center closed for Independence Day!
Wednesday, July 9: Meat Loaf, Baked Potatoes, Wheat Roll, Peas, Peaches, and Banana Bars
Friday, July 11: Dorito Pie, Garden Salad, Peaches, Dorito Chips, and Banana Bars.
Wednesday. July 16: Sweet and Sour Chicken, Steamed Rice, Green Beans, Mandarin Oranges, Roll, and Chocolate Cake with Peanut Butter frosting.
That’s it for another week. July is supposed to bring temperatures near the 100-degree mark, so take care of yourselves. Stay indoors during the hottest part of the day and hydrate! If you have elderly neighbors, please check in on them. Heat-related illnesses are no joke.
