We had a Baked Potato Bar on Friday Evening, September 12th. It wasn’t as well-attended as I had hoped, but for those of us who came, we certainly enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Many thanks go out to our Volunteers who helped set up, serve, and clean up afterwards: They were Dana Munden, Sandy Nudo, Charlie Caruso, Sandi and Dale Barton, and Rick Wemmer.
Our next Food Pantry is on Wednesday, September 17th, from 1:30 to 3 PM. The following day, Thursday, Sept 18th, is the day we go shopping in Ontario. If you would like to join us, please call me at 208-257-3358. Monday, September 22nd, is the day of our next foot clinic. Appointments are needed, so again, please give me a call here at the center if you are interested.
I spoke with Brad Talbutt from SHIBA this past week and scheduled a time to be at the center for individual Medicare counseling. That day will be on Wednesday, October 29th. He said that there are lots of changes coming, both in the number of plans offered and the prices seniors will have to pay for those plans. It’s important to compare what you currently have with what is being offered. Especially if your plan is one of the ones that is dropped this year. And, I’m told that quite a few plans are being dropped in the rural areas.
Open enrollment for Medicare plans starts on October 15th and ends on December 7th this year. I will be giving you more information in the weeks to come, so be on the lookout. You don’t want to miss this opportunity.
That’s all I’ve got for this week. Thanks for reading my column, and have a great week ahead.
Oh, and here is a piece of trivia for you: as of today, Sunday, September 14th, it’s 102 days before Christmas!
