The Weiser Elks Lodge has generously written and received a $2,000 Spotlight Grant to support Love INC Washington County’s food pantry. According to the Elks National Foundation, the Spotlight Grant is in place so that local Lodges can shine a light on pressing needs in their community. For a second year in a row, the Weiser Elks have chosen to shine a light on food insecurity in Washington County by donating
to Love INC’s food pantry efforts.
This year the grant will be used in two ways: $1,000 of the grant will
serve to buy many of the turkeys for Love INC’s Thanksgiving Blessing Boxes. Love INC plans to provide boxes with a full Thanksgiving feast to 100 families this year. The other $1,000 is being used to purchase ground beef for the freezer. Ground beef is a staple in the Love INC pantry because it is such a versatile food that helps feed families not just at the holidays, but all through the year.
Mary, store manager, and Moses, meat department manager and Elks Lodge member, at Ridley’s are generously working alongside the Elks and Love INC to secure the best prices on both the turkeys and beef. Ridley’s is also storing the turkeys until the day of the Thanksgiving Blessing Box distribution since Love INC’s pantry lacks that kind of massive freezer space. What an incredible example of local organizations and
businesses working together to meet the needs of neighbors in our community.
