WEISER, ID- Thursday, July 17th Weiser’s Mayor Randy Hibberd and Public Works Director Mike Campbell presented a check to Mark Ridley of Ridley’s Family Market from the Bonneville Power Company in the amount of $193,683.23. This check is a rebate check for the company for investing in more energy efficient ways of running the Weiser Ridley’s store such as more energy efficient lighting and coolers. Mark Ridley gave kudos to his design and engineering team for planning and working with the different agencies and taking advantage of the program, “Those engineers, they put those plans together with the designing of the store and showed us what we can do with this Bonneville Power program. It’s awesome, it’s a pretty cool deal.” He continued stating, “As a small family company we are so proud of this Weiser store and our partnership with the community in so many different ways. It’s just something we continue to be proud about. We love Weiser, it is really close to our heart.”
It is estimated that the store with its more energy efficient set up is saving over 717,345 kw a year in power usage. Campbell says they rate it for ten years which comes out to just over 7 mega watts, “That’s a lot of power to save. And that’s good for the community. Anytime the city saves power it keeps the rates down,” stated Campbell. Home owners in the city can take advantage of similar rebates for updating things to more energy efficient products, “Bonneville Power gives you energy credits. When you save energy you get a credit. Homes can get them. If you change out your air conditioner, electric heat, insulation, or windows,” stated Campbell.
