Fruitland Chamber Luncheon Highlights

On Wednesday, August 13th, the Fruitland Chamber of Commerce hosted its monthly luncheon at Orchard Hall, welcoming Payette County Paramedics to speak on two important topics: Heat Cramps, Heat Exhaustion, and Heat Stroke, and the proposed Payette County Paramedics Levy Override.

May 2026 Ballot – Informational Summary

About the Levy, Why It Matters

Payette County Paramedics respond to nearly 4,000 emergencies every year, operating 24/7. Rising costs, staffing challenges, and aging ambulances are putting a strain on their ability to respond quickly and effectively. The proposed levy override is designed to address these needs.

What the Levy Override Would Do

• Staff a third 24/7 ambulance for faster response countywide

• Support competitive wages to recruit and retain EMS personnel

• Replace aging ambulances and medical equipment on a planned cycle

• Improve system readiness, safety, and reliability across the county

Estimated Cost to Homeowners

Assessed Value — Annual / Monthly

• $100,000 — $82.87 / $6.91

• $200,000 — $165.74 / $13.81

• $300,000 — $248.61 / $20.72

If It Passes

✅ Faster EMS response times

✅ Third ambulance staffed 24/7

✅ New, more reliable vehicles and equipment

✅ Reduced reliance on outside agencies

If It Fails

⚠️ Longer response times during peak demand

⚠️ Continued staffing shortages

⚠️ Older vehicles in service longer

⚠️ Greater reliance on neighboring agencies, which may delay care

Oversight and Accountability

• Managed by the City of Fruitland, with budget oversight by the City Council

• Funding from patient billing and a portion of county property taxes

• Annual public budget reporting

📌 This summary was prepared by Payette County Paramedics for informational purposes only. It explains the purpose and potential impact of the EMS levy override and does not advocate for or against the measure.
