At the September 13th, 2025 Fruitland Chamber Luncheon, guests enjoyed a fun and interactive icebreaker. Each attendee was invited to create a short “commercial” for the person seated next to them using random objects as inspiration, a lighthearted way to spark conversation, learn more about one another, and share stories. Laughter and smiles made it clear the activity was a big hit!
Fruitland Chamber of Commerce also learned about the proposed Payette County Paramedics Levy Override for the May 2026 ballot.
About the Levy
Payette County Paramedics respond to nearly 4,000 emergencies annually, but rising costs, staffing challenges, and aging ambulances are straining their system. The proposed levy override would:
• Add a third 24/7 ambulance for faster countywide response
• Support competitive wages to recruit and retain EMS staff
• Replace aging ambulances and medical equipment
• Strengthen system readiness, safety, and reliability
Estimated Cost to Homeowners (Annual / Monthly):
• $100,000 — $82.87 / $6.91
• $200,000 — $165.74 / $13.81
• $300,000 — $248.61 / $20.72
If It Passes: Faster response times, more reliable equipment, and reduced reliance on outside agencies.
If It Fails: Longer delays during peak demand, staffing shortages, and greater reliance on neighboring agencies.
Oversight will be managed by the City of Fruitland with City Council budget oversight, plus annual public reporting.
