This week marks a historic milestone for the community of Ontario and Ontario Fire & Rescue. For the first time in our history, your fire department is staffed with four career firefighters/EMTs on duty every 24-hour shift (excluding vacation and sick time). Thanks to the support of our community, the Mayor and City Council, and the Ontario Rural Fire Protection District, our highly trained personnel are better equipped to respond quickly and effectively when every second counts. The importance of adequate staffing is most evident during emergencies and life-threatening situations – and this progress ensures we can provide a high level of service and protection.
