Letter To The Editor – Jim and Shannon Reed

Weiser Kind

Division and grievance politics seem to be everywhere. We think most Weiser residents prefer a more civil, kinder discourse. Most Weiser residents are concerned about the issues that impact children and families: health, safety, family values, academic achievement, extra and co-curricular involvement, and great citizenship. It’s time to stand for truth and facts, to vote and to support candidates that share those concerns and will help our community heal and unite.

To date, our District has been known for stability and civility. Those characteristics take work and intentionality! If anything, we have witnessed how quickly that can change.

Many of us came to Weiser and found a place reflective of our values and a place where kids have an opportunity to be seen and cared for, to be part of an organization or team. Weiser is a place where people, for the most part, get along and demonstrate kindness, forgiveness, and community spirit. It appears that some folks don’t hold those values as dear as others. It’s an old axiom, but still accurate: divided we fall.

Marg Chipman and the good men and women she has served with on our school board have helped guide our school district to be recognized across Idaho as one of the top districts. Marg is fiscally conservative and committed to Weiser and our family values. Marg, her late husband Gary, and son Rob have ranched in Weiser for over 50 years. Her roots and values run deep in Weiser.

Now is the time for stability and experience, civility and thoughtful debate. Please get out and vote for Marg Chipman for Zone 2 Board of Trustees on Tuesday, November 2.

In the weeks ahead, as we look forward to Christmas and what it means, let’s all make a personal commitment to be kinder! Weiser kind.

Go Weiser,
Jim and Shannon Reed
