LivingInTheNews.Com – Alex Chavarria; Man or Rabbit?

By Marsha Woods
Following the footsteps of Alex Chavarria for a day is like chasing an escaped rabbit!  He has the ability to hop flat footed from one place to another, do his business and continue on to the next while people try without success to capture and tame him!
Being an advocate of his on- line newspaper, LIVING IN THE NEWS, a cheerleader of the web site, and a recent reporter of the recipient of this award, it is difficult to remain unbiased. No biography in the world could tell his story better than a simple bird’s eye view of a guy who has changed the ideals of the small town in which he grew up better than Alex himself!
Having been born and raised into a family who taught him values and commitment, it is difficult to analyze just where his energy came from.  Was his OCD innate; did it transpire from his position in the family, his military training, a hugely strange chemical imbalance, or just his addiction to root beer floats and burritos?  Who knows?
Alex is a humble man with a hugely dynamic personality. To know him is to love him, as the saying goes. His motivation is simply the love of his family, giving to his community and sharing himself with the people in his life that encourage his enthusiasm.
Alex left Weiser after graduating from Weiser High School to serve an LDS mission in North Carolina, he joined the military and served in Washington DC, got married and started a family while in the military. He and his wonderful wife, Ronnell managed shopping centers in Florida and then Alex worked at a security company in California before deciding that home was where their heart was.  Coming back to Weiser, 8 to 10 years ago, depending upon who you talk to, Alex milled around for awhile before he found his opportunity in the world of media.  He went to work as advertising manager for the Weiser Signal American when the light came on.  It was there that he was inspired by the news from both sides.
LIVING IN THE NEWS .COM was born from a concept that Alex had about how he could bring the news to the community in an expedient and positive way.  He initiated his web site with the help of recent Weiser High School graduate, Nathan Eliason.  Nathan helped him design the templates, created it all from scratch and formatted the premise, enabling it to be read from every technological device. His wife Ronnell and his children Rebekah, Laura, Zoe and Jacob help him with editing and posting the content that makes LITN a success.
LIVING IN THE NEWS began as a dream 2 years ago.  It was, for the most part, not for profit until recently.  Alex has operated simply by endurance for approximately 1 1/2 years.  It is now making enough money to afford him Idaho Pizza instead of McDonalds for lunch! As a community inpute online newspaper, Alex does not employ a staff of writers, he bribes them!  One can never turn down his puppy dog pleas of, “can I ask a favor of you?”
Alex Chavarria has become as much of as a celebrity in Weiser as Norm is on Cheers.  Everybody knows his name!
