Press Release
Washington County, Idaho – May 14, 2025 – Love in the Name of Christ, with support from the LOR Foundation, is excited to announce the launch of a greatly expanded portable wheelchair ramp lending ministry, aimed at improving accessibility for neighbors within our community. This initiative will provide short-term loans of portable wheelchair ramps to individuals with mobility challenges, enabling them to access their homes that may otherwise be inaccessible.
Recognizing the need for flexible and temporary accessibility solutions, Love INC has established this lending program to bridge the gap where permanent ramps are not feasible or immediately necessary. Whether it’s for a family member coming home on hospice, someone recovering from surgery, or an interim step until a permanent ramp can be acquired, these portable ramps will offer a practical solution to overcome mobility barriers, and allow our neighbors to remain in their own homes.
The portable wheelchair ramps are all EZ Access brand so that our parts are interchangeable and can be configured for different layouts. They will provide a safe and convenient way to navigate steps, thresholds, and other minor barriers.
Key features of the Portable Wheelchair Ramp Lending Ministry:
- Loans: Ramps will be available for loan. Recipients and their families will agree to return them after use so that they can be used again for other neighbors the safe lifetime of the equipment.
- Application Process: Individuals can request a ramp by obtaining and completing an application packet from Love in the Name of Christ Washington County.
- Community Support: The expansion of this ministry is made possible through a generous donation by the LOR Foundation and the dedication of volunteers who will manage the program.
- Focus on Inclusion: This initiative aims to empower individuals with mobility challenges to continue to live at home and have access out into the community.
