Welcome to our new line up of the annual Midvale 4th of July Celebration! For various reasons, our dedicated board has decided to try a new take on an old tradition for the 4th of July. Years ago, the old fashioned pit smoked bbq was held in the park… you got it, all our guys hanging out, beer in hand, nodding to themselves as the meat smoked and life was contemplated, while the gals set up, decorated, community members came together, and the kids both helped and played. Welcome back to those days!
This year’s annual Old Fashioned BBQ will be held in the afternoon in the Midvale Community Park just as in days of old. Our parade will begin at 4pm, with line up at the school at 3:30 for any and all that would like to enter a float, tractor, car, truck, ride a horse, or a bike or motorized vehicle, or even walk a critter! There will be prizes for the best decorated.
Immediately following the parade, as we end at the park, get ready to enjoy succulent smoked brisket, baked beans ( the best they have ever had was our review last year), potluck salads and one very famous potato salad, followed by desserts from the proudest bakers that Midvale has to offer.
To work off all that food, all are welcome to grab a team and join in our goat roping event as well as greased pig contest. Or just bust a gut laughing and cheering as spectators! It gets pretty wild out there! After we hose you off, please feel free to swim for free, or enjoy one of our pool boards newly purchased giant water slides or bounce houses.
All this is accompanied by, first our prayer and benediction, patriotic songs, followed by a live band “ Scotty Mac & the Nugs”.
For the little tikes, we also have “Toddler Town”, which includes mini slides and pools. We do ask that parents stay with their littles, as we are not a babysitting service, and our hard working volunteers like to enjoy the festivities as well. Thank you.
Fireworks will start at dusk in Midvale, ( firework funds were raised separately from pool money or meat donations) and we ask that you give grace for the many changes this year, and be as excited about them as we are! Let’s go back to our Old Fashioned BBQ, give it a try, and come together as a community to enjoy all this hard work.
Thank you all for your continued support, and let MakeMidvaleGreatAgain!
Oh, and that duck race… the ducks will be unleashed in a stock tank for our Grand Marshal, Junior Keithley, to select one blindfolded! We almost lost a board member last year trying to recover those illusive ducks in the river, and we don’t want to lose anyone, including the amazing members of our community. We can’t wait to see you there!
