The New Year 2021 is arriving faster than we can keep up! But there are many things that we must keep up on an annual basis. One is our applicator’s license!
2020 has been a challenge for applicator recertification with many common venues cancelling or moving online. University of Idaho Extension Washington County held a small seminar series to provide a few credits for local applicators. We handed out a total of 38 ISDA approved credits in four evenings, and while we had small groups, the program was considered a success. Some of the topics covered included invasive annual grass updates, grasshopper and cricket control, weed impacts to soil health, invasive tree management, and applications for drones in weed and pest management. We had some happy attendees fill their credits and a few who asked for more classes next year.
To help support our county pesticide applicators and Weed Department, University of Idaho Extension Washington County will be offering more pesticide applicator recertification credits this coming year. Topics will range from weed control, to insects, to pathogens to cover ever category. Topics in the spray gun sights include cover cropping for IPM, weeds on the watch list, loss of farm chemicals, pollinator protection, aquatic weeds, and more!
Classes will be held in Weiser and Cambridge. The first in the series will be held in February, so watch the paper and UI Extension Facebook page for dates and times! We will send out a schedule soon. Call us if you would like to get your name on the mailing/call/email list so we can keep you updated about classes, opportunities, and events.
