Monday, July 14th at the monthly Weiser City Council meeting Mayor Randy Hibberd nominated Lieutenant Troy Krahn for the position of Weiser City Police Chief. Mayor Hibberd shared that he put out the word for applications for the position and chose Lt. Krahn out of all the applicants stating,“There wasn’t anybody who came close to what we already have in house with Lieutenant Krahn. It gives me a lot of pleasure to nominate him as the new Chief of Police.”
The council voted unanimously to appoint Lt. Krahn as Chief of Police. Next month a badge ceremony is planned at the August City Council Meeting. Lt. Krahn is currently acting as interim Chief while outgoing Chief Carl Smith takes his last vacation before retiring from the position. Lt. Krahn will officially be Chief of Police starting August 1st.
