Press Release From Chief Benson of Ontario Fire & Rescue
Ontario, Oregon- On May 31, 2025, at approximately 9:22 PM, Ontario Fire & Rescue (OFR) was dispatched to 4406 Sage Road for a shed on fire, threatening other structures.
Rescue One immediately requested a general page and responded with a crew of two.
Rescue One arrived and reported multiple structures on fire with fire extending into the wildland. Weather conditions spread the fire rapidly but fire crews were able to protect the residence, and valuable assets from surrounding fire.
Crews from multiple agencies worked through the night to successfully contain the blaze. There were no injuries to people or pets. The cause of the fire appeared to be embers from a debris fire lit earlier in the day and not fully extinguished.
Fire departments from Vale, Fruitland, Payette, Nyssa, New Plymouth, and Weiser took part in the operation.
Other assisting agencies included Treasure Valley Paramedics, the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office, Owyhee Irrigation, and the Ontario Volunteer Firefighters Association.
