Why
Idaho’s school districts are filled with caring and highly qualified educators and support staff. School employees work with parents and guardians who are deeply committed to their children’s academic and social success. Yet, despite this, Idaho’s method of delivering a quality education to every student, a commitment mandated by the state constitution, is fundamentally flawed. The flaws in our education system take many forms. Chronic underfunding, a patch work of confusing and contradictory rules and statutes and a general disregard for our institutions of learning. The result of this is an environment where our children are being short changed. The time has long since past for us to rely on and hope for the best intentions of the politicians in Boise to ensure high quality public schools. And now, with the global health crisis of COVID-19 that is accelerating all the deficiencies, parents and educators can wait no longer to act. The unnecessary hardships placed on our students and communities must end. Our public-school system must once again become a central beacon of hope in every neighborhood in Idaho.
