Small

By Casey Hoskins

When I see this word I think of my business, my kids when they were little, and little salt and pepper shakers. Bet you weren’t expecting that last one. I am currently in a head & heart debate over the worthiness of something small.

I have to tell you, the things that make me the most happy are small. When our family was full but our budget was not, it was when we had the most fun. I literally packed a lunch for every outing. If we went on errands, I packed a lunch,  we found a park and we had a picnic. It was all we could afford but those are some of the happiest memories I have. When having just enough was just enough.

Because I am an over-thinker (I’m pretty sure we’ve covered this) and the economy is having heartburn I am constantly wondering about my small business. How do I grow it, will I make enough to (fill in the blank), what savings?!…that sort of thing. All valid ponderings but all very consuming. I have lost my focus. When I started all of this I was content to be small. To help those that wanted it, to create beauty, and to have fun.

I have zero idea where all of this is going at the moment…and that’s okay. I have the Lord, a nice home, a happy, healthy family, a business that serves, and a great community that supports me. I think it’s time I be okay with being small once again and remember how to enjoy what I have.

~ Funny how you think you’ve learned a lesson only for it to crop up and test you once again. 🤦‍♀️ ~
