Every year while the weather is still hot and the children have just gone back to school, an intrepid group of singers begin thinking of Christmas. In fact, plans are being made all year long for a much-anticipated annual Christmas concert.
The Upper Country Singers would like to invite experienced choir members, folks with minimal music backgrounds, and those who consider themselves sing-in-the-shower rock stars to join the group. Rehearsals begin Monday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. at the Midvale School multipurpose room. There are no auditions and there is no cost to join. The Singers are committed to regular attendance, working hard, enjoying new friendships, and laughing a lot!
The Upper Country Singers have been in existence in one form or another for decades, creating a musical outlet for the many talented people in the area. Choir members usually come from Weiser, Midvale, Cambridge, Indian Valley, and Council.
The annual concert will be presented Sunday, December 4 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cambridge Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall. The Singers, instrumentalists, a children’s choir and other soloists will perform for a packed house.
One of the mission’s of the Upper Country Singers is to encourage choral singing and performance for the children of the community. Rehearsals for the children will begin on Tuesday, September 13 at 4:00 p.m. at the Midvale Community Baptist Church. The children have sung, danced, performed sign language, and used puppetry in past concerts.
