The Weiser Memorial Hospital Surgical & Specialty Clinic, and Family Medical Center are painfully aware of the ongoing billing issues which have been affecting our patients. In early 2024, a billing vendor, Change Healthcare, had a system breach which put a hold on processing the majority of our claims. Due to the severity of their breach and the time required to return to functionality, WMH was forced to find and switch to a new billing vendor. The set-up time for initiating and establishing the new processes added additional delays to our billing process. This put our billing further behind.
Then in September of last year, WMH also incurred a network event which affected our computer systems, including billing. This delayed our coding and billing departments by an additional 2 months as we worked to bring our systems back to full functionality.
