Dear Parents and Guardians,
This afternoon school officials were notified of a TikTok challenge that apparently has been circulating nationwide and challenging followers to commit acts of violence or shootings on December 17th. (TikTok is a popular social media platform used for posting short videos, pranks, jokes, etc.) Law enforcement is aware of the recent posts and has been in contact with Weiser School District officials.
These posts have been shared across the country and at this time there is no credible information that any of the threats target anyone in the Weiser School District or in our community.
As always, we encourage parents to talk with their children and remind them of the importance of reporting any concerns that they have to adults, school officials, or law enforcement directly should they observe something suspicious or have information that poses a potential threat to the safety of any individual or group.
Additionally, we encourage parents to discuss with their children the appropriate use of social media platforms, as well as the importance of never sharing posts that are inaccurate, not credible, or that promote violence or unsafe activities.
We have no reason to believe acts of violence will occur in our community on December 17th and anticipate the visible presence of law enforcement in our schools and around our community. We appreciate the support that we receive from our local law enforcement agencies every day.
Respectfully,
Wade Wilson, Superintendent
