Treasure Valley Community College Foundation Hosts 2024 Outdoor Living and Garden Tour in Weiser

June 15th marked a delightful day for garden enthusiasts as the Treasure Valley Community College Foundation hosted the 2024 Outdoor Living and Garden Tour throughout Weiser. This year’s tour showcased nine stunning gardens, each offering unique beauty and inspiration.

The Weiser Train Depot’s garden, maintained by the Architectural Preservation Committee (WAPC) and the Weiser Garden Club team, was a highlight. The depot’s historic charm is complemented by its well-kept garden.

Visitors also enjoyed the garden of Coleen and Lowell Grant. The couple has invested significant effort into transforming their yard into a space they can take pride in. “Our house and garden are beginning to see the fruits of our labor,” they shared, reflecting the personal touch evident in their lush surroundings.

Rob and Kim Chipman, along with Doug and JoAnne Karel, welcomed guests to their serene garden residence. The variety of pines, shrubs, flowers, and plants create a tranquil atmosphere, enhanced by the soothing sounds of a waterfall and other water features.

Holly and Dave Davies transformed their once bare plot into a vibrant garden with the help of their children. What was once just grass is now a beautifully space filled with diverse plantings.

Similarly, Diann and Jim Martin turned a dirt patch with only weeds into a multi-purpose garden with a charming cottage feel. Their garden now boasts a mix of fruit trees, vegetables, perennial flowers, and ornamental grasses.

Tony Edmondson and John Murray’s garden features large oak, ash, apricot, and maple trees. Every element, from buildings to plants, was added by their own hands, mostly without heavy equipment, showcasing their dedication and craftsmanship.

Marg Chipman’s garden, located near the ninth tee of the Rolling Hills Golf Course, includes several old, salvaged water troughs repurposed for growing strawberries and perennials. Her garden shed, built by Jim Harberd, is her favorite spot.

Pat Hamilton’s garden, also next to the Rolling Hills Golf Course, features beautiful hydrangeas that bloom in mid-July or August. Her choice of plants adds a timeless elegance to her garden.

Lastly, Charisse Stindt’s garden shows her love for trees, plants, metal, and rocks. Her landscape features over a hundred trees and various plants, alongside a greenhouse and other additions that have turned her space into what she calls “paradise.”

The 2024 Outdoor Living and Garden Tour was a celebration of creativity, hard work, and the natural beauty that Weiser’s gardens have to offer. Attendees left inspired, with fresh ideas for their own gardens and a deeper appreciation for the artistry of gardening.
