The Tri Valley Titan wrestlers traveled to Nampa Christian High School on February 16th to compete in the District III 2A IHSAA District Tournament. This was a chance to showcase all the hard work and determination over the past 3 months. Their accomplishments were nothing less than outstanding. All 14 wrestlers placed and made contributions to the overall team score. The Titans placed a 3rd in team points behind Melba and New Plymouth.
NINE Titan wrestlers competed in the final round for the title of District Champion 2023 at the end of the night. District Champions include: (SENIOR) JC Henry @ 152lbs, (Junior) Gage Warren @ 160lbs, (Soph) Jace Mink @ 106lbs and (Fresh) Logan May @ 98lbs.
District Champion Runner-Up include: (SENIOR) Alyas Walker @ 195lbs, (Junior) Gabe Sutton @ 145lbs, (Fresh) Wyatt Moura @ 170lbs, (Fresh) Jace Waggoner @ 132lbs, and (Fresh) Eli Noah @ 126lbs. All 9 of these wrestlers received the automatic bid for the State Tournament this coming week at the Idaho Center on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Other District 2A placers included: (Junior) Russell Noah – 3rd @ 138 lbs, (Soph) Toby Walker – 4th @ 138lbs, (SENIOR) Dallon Scott – 4th @ 145lbs, (SENIOR) Blake Damon – 5th @ 160lbs and (Junior) Heath Fortin – 5th @ 220lbs.
Sunday Afternoon brought a much anticipated phone call from the IHSAA seeding meeting that both Russell Noah and Toby Walker received “Wild-Card” bids to complete the 138 bracket at state.
A total of 11 TVT boys wrestlers will represent their team, schools, and communities and are STATE bound!
In addition, The TVT Girls made history on Wednesday, with Mik Waggoner placing 2nd @ 120lbs at the Girls District 3 Tournament and advancing to the State Tournament. Mik fought a tough girls bracket to have a chance to wrestle in the championship. Becca Chandler placed 8th in her division.
Head Coach Nathan Noah was also recognized as District 3 Coach of the Year. A huge accomplishment that was evident with the placing of 12 wrestlers in the state brackets.
