Weiser City Residents Will See Changes to Their Utility Bills Coming Soon

Monday, August 12th the Weiser City Council held a public meeting to share information on proposed cost changes to Weiser City residents utilities. The proposed changes were a 5% increase for water, a 5% increase for sewer and a 13.8% increase for garbage. Mike Campbell, Weiser City Public Works Director, shared that the proposed increases are due to rising cost in maintenance, supplies and equipment. After the meeting hearing from local community members the resolution was brought to the council for a vote which was passed unanimously by the council.

Another upcoming change is the due date for some of Weiser’s residents. Currently the city is split with two different due dates depending on where you live in the city limits. The council was asked to simplify the procedure by having all residents on the same billing cycle. The council voted and made the change to have all residents on the same billing cycle.

The changes will not be made immediately. The City plans to make sure residents are aware of changes and when they will take place by using local news sources, social media, and sending notification with the next few bill mailings. They want to give residents time to prepare for the changes.

To learn more about the utility cost increase and billing cycle change check out the August 12th, 2024 Weiser City Council Meeting video on our website or Facebook page.
