When the Weiser Lions heard there would be a football season this year, there was no
hesitation that they would man the concession stand. They donned their masks and
worked every Middle School, junior varsity and varsity home football game, selling
burgers, hot dogs, nachos, chili, popcorn, candy and soda.
When the Weiser Lions weren’t working, they were busy shopping. Recently, ten new
fleece-lined coats were purchased and donated to Love INC for the Weiser coat drive.
Thanks to the hungry football fans who supported the concession stand, ten children will
be toasty warm this winter.
When the Weiser Lions weren’t fundraising or shopping, they kept busy conducting
vision testing in the Weiser and Annex schools. Over the course of a week in
September, more than 500 students’ vision was tested. New equipment purchased by
the Lions last year streamlined the testing process.
The pandemic may have put a stop to a lot of things, but it did not stop the need in our
community; in fact, the need increased due to lost wages. The Lions knew that the
money they earned at the concession stand would help ease some of the hardship.
100% of the net funds earned will be donated back to the community for food, clothing,
school supplies and eye glasses. Donations will also be made to the hospital, the
community Christmas dinner, the WHS Robotics and Science clubs, the 4 th of July
fireworks, the Cub and Boy Scouts and numerous other local charities.
If you like offering a helping hand and putting others first, please consider becoming a
Weiser Lion. There is so much that can be accomplished just by keeping busy.
